The latest edition of the Automated Vehicle Index from Roland Berger and Forschungsgesellschaft Kraftfahrwesen Aachen details the comparative progress made by the leading automotive nations around the globe.

The Q3 2016 update of the report also looks at the preparedness for the provision of vehicle and infrastructure connectivity, in particular looking at how this will facilitate the wider deployment of autonomous vehicle features.

"Connectivity between vehicles and the surrounding infrastructure is a constant subject of debate in relation to the introduction of highly automated driving. The focus is not only on using up-to-date data for maps, traffic volume information and hazard warnings, but also on generating and supplying this data with the aid of smart vehicle and infrastructure components."
