The House of Commons Public Bill Committee are seeking written evidence for the Vehicle Technology and Aviation Bill.

Amongst other things, the Bill will cover issues surrounding autonomous and electric vehicles. It will include the previously reported requirement for vehicle insurance to cover accidents which occur when vehicles are in self-driving mode. "The Government believes that answering the insurance questions sooner rather than later will encourage manufacturers to develop transport technology in the United Kingdom with the confidence that they can exploit market opportunities". The Bill also includes support for electric vehicle charging infrastructure, to assist in the goal that almost all cars and vans in the UK will be zero emission vehicles by 2050. The deadline for responses will be no later than 23 March 2017.
